Description

Bergolin DB-EP-Iron Mica 150 6E820 is a high-quality, high-film-thickness, two-component epoxy resin intermediate coat, pigmented with aluminum and iron mica. Thanks to its high solids content and thixotropic properties, it allows for high dry film thicknesses of up to 150 µm to be achieved in a single application—while maintaining a low solvent content. The lamellar structure of the iron mica forms a dense, overlapping barrier layer: it lengthens the diffusion path for water and corrosive media, improves edge coverage, and provides additional protection for the underlying layers against UV radiation. This results in excellent corrosion protection and mechanical properties. It is used as an intermediate coating in multi-layer corrosion protection systems on steel as well as on zinc/aluminum—typically over a zinc dust or zinc phosphate-based primer and under a light-resistant polyurethane topcoat.

Recommended use

  • Interlayer Coating in Multilayer Corrosion Protection Systems for Steel
  • Intermediate coat on zinc and aluminum surfaces using Superdur Unigrund
  • Steel and plant construction requiring high coating thickness in a single pass
  • Projects requiring a reduced solvent content

Advantages at a glance

  • Up to 150 µm dry film thickness in a single pass
  • Low in solvents due to a high solids content of approximately 80% by weight
  • Thixotropic properties—high stability even on vertical surfaces
  • Excellent corrosion protection provided by a lamellar iron mica barrier layer
  • Enhanced edge coverage and additional UV protection for the underlying layers
  • Long pot life of approximately 8 hours—cost-effective application to large areas
  • Flexible application using a brush, airless or airmix spray gun, or a cup gun
