Bergolin has around 25 years of experience in the development of coatings for GRP and CFRP, not least due to its many years of work in the wind power industry. We have also been able to put this experience to profitable use for customers in other areas.
We will be presenting a selection of particularly weather-resistant gel and top coats for styrene-free coating of high-quality composite components made of fiber-reinforced plastics, among other things. The surface qualities that can be achieved with the products can optionally reach a very high gloss level at paint level. Some of the gelcoats, which can also be used as topcoats, also enable matt or particularly "grippy" surfaces.
The gelcoats and topcoats from Bergolin are characterized by very good polishability and high gloss stability as well as maximum flexibility in the choice of colour and maximum UV and erosion resistance. At 300-400 µm, the layer thickness required for Bergolin gelcoats is significantly lower than for a UP gelcoat.
GRP and CFRP components produced with Bergolin gelcoats are resistant to weather, water and chemicals, heat and cold. Available water-based single-component topcoats can significantly increase the weather resistance of these composite parts even further.
Composite materials made from GRP and CFRP have a number of positive properties. In addition to their high strength and low weight, they are characterized by their resistance to corrosion and chemicals, which makes them suitable for a wide range of applications.
However, without a suitable coating, the composite materials are susceptible to weather-related influences, which can severely impair the durability of GFRP and CFRP components. The appearance of the components can also be customized by applying a coating.
